IDFPR Warns Consumers about Phishing Scam Seeking Personal Information

On Thursday, July 2, 2020,  Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) became aware of a phishing campaign and malicious web site sent to resemble the official IDFPR site. The email directs users to a malicious website and asks for the entry of personal information, which includes social security numbers, dates of birth, and business names. The fake website contains links to legitimate IDFPR resources in an attempt to appear valid. 

If you’re unsure whether a communication you’ve received from IDFPR is legitimate, you may verify its authenticity by contacting IDFPR at 1-888-473-4858.

Recipients should not click on any links provided and it is suggested that malicious email be deleted.
